Cypress framing is suitable for use anywhere in Australia and is supported by Australian Standards for design and construction. Cypress is strong, durable and naturally termite resistant and with properly designed connections such as, tie-downs and other detailing, can even be used in cyclonic areas. It can also be used near the ocean where the timber's natural durability makes it ideal.

A full range of unseasoned building sizes in grades F5 and F7 are available although stock in the Greater Metropolitan areas may be limited with full job lots available for supply against order.

Span tables for unseasoned Cypress are included in the Australian Standard, Residential timber-framed construction AS 1684.2 ? 2006 as supplements 10 & 11 and in AS1684.4 - 2006 where they are contained as hard copy within the manual.

In Europe and Japan properly designed and maintained timber structures have lasted for centuries in uses such as housing, bridges and temples.

Cypress is moderately lightweight but strong and allows the designer to be free of the restrictions of heavyweight materials. Many Australian architects and designers use Cypress in innovative design as well as adding warmth to their projects with finishing products such as flooring and weatherboards.

Termite Management

Termites are an integral part of the ecology on mainland Australia and may attack houses and commercial structures of any construction. It is not only the frame of a building that is attached by termites and so the timber industry recommends that all new Australian homes are protected from termite attack by using the right materials, construction methods and by regular inspection.

Naturally termite resistant Cypress framing can provide protection to the main structural elements, it is readily available and can be used in all applications. Cypress framing is the only real timber, chemical free alternative.
